When the Weather is Right

May 10th, 2008

So here we are in transition period between winter and summer known as spring. Its the time of year when the weather from one day to the next is as unpredictable as ever. One day it can be perfect with temperatures hovering in the mid 70s without a cloud in sight. The next day can be cold and rainy. With the variable conditions it compels you to make the best of the nice days and do something outside or update your website. So not knowing what tomorrow will bring in the way of weather, we present our favorite things to do when the weather is right. (Note: This list does not include obvious summer activities, as we’re talking about the period before summer arrives.) Read more »

CadaverBlender is back. Fresh off a trip to the infield for Kentucky Derby 134 we’ve got the best way to ensure all your money goes towards exactas and trifectas and not towards $6 beer and $9 Mint Juleps (though one Julep for the souvenir glass might be worth it). I know you’ve come to expect a list, but really there is only one surefire way to sneak booze into Churchill Downs and thats with the booze sandwich. Click for more including pictures. Read more »

After five long months the fourth season of The Office returns this Thursday. It’s about damn time. Part of the reason we enjoy The Office so much is because at the heart of the matter these people – Michael, Jim, Dwight, Pam and the rest of the gang – are just like ourselves and the people we work with. I know you’re denying that right now, but face the facts. As much as we want to dislike Michael, we can’t. He always wants/tries to do the best thing and what he believes is right, but in the end fails miserably and usually offends everybody else during the process. So in honor of The Office‘s return Keith and I present our three favorite episodes. Since I know 95% of CadaverBlender’s audience watches The Office, there is no reason for lack of comments. So let us know your favorite episodes and why. Read more »

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) are something children of all eras should experience. During my lifetime they have come in many forms. There were the TMNT comic books. Then the TMNT animated series. Then live action movies involving the TMNT. And most recently a CGI version of the same lovable turtles. Oh yeah, lets not forget the action figures. With four of them, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, it was easy to relate to their varied antics. Of course, Keith and I have our favorites. Check it out below and be sure to let us know who your favorite turtle is and why. Read more »

For those of you who know me and Keith, you know that we are never one to pass up the opportunity to drink. For those of you who don’t know us, well let me tell you, me and Keith never pass up the opportunity to drink. But don’t worry, we’re not alcoholics. Or at least I’m not an alcoholic because I’m still in school (What you got Keith?). But thats beside the point, because today we are here to offer you our favorite alternatives to drinking. See, we don’t drink all the time and we know how to have a good time without alcohol. So the next time you want something to do but don’t want/need alcohol to make it entertaining (and you thought such tasks were impossible to come by) then feel free to use any of the alternatives you find on the list. What are your favorite alternatives to drinking? Read more »

Best of the National League

March 29th, 2008

Depending on what team you cheer for the baseball season started last Tuesday (Boston and Oakland), starts tomorrow (Atlanta and Washington D.C.), or starts Monday (the rest of the league). The Red Sox and Athletics split an opening series in Japan, while the Braves and Nationals play on Opening Night in a one game series which is not to be confused with Opening Day when every team plays except the Red Sox and Athletics. Got it? Good because its time Keith and I make our predictions for the season. Here’s the usual disclaimer: We have no inside information that makes this task any easier. Don’t use our predictions to bet the house unless you aren’t concerned about the possibility of losing it (Which may happen any way with this economy). These are purely educated guesses based on the information available to the public. We will probably be wrong, but on the rare occurrence we are correct we do have the right to rub it in. When we are wrong, they simply mean nothing. The National League is up to bat along with your predictions. Who you got? Read more »

Hot, Fast, and Close to Home

March 26th, 2008

It’s Monday. You have class from 1-5 and then 6-9, so there is no time to cook dinner. What do you do? You quickly list off all the fast food places within a short drive/delivery distance and make your way to one of them. It could be the quick burger joint or maybe its the Chinese buffet, but whatever it is, it hits the spot but you know you’ll feel like absolute shit later. Thats the nature of the beast. So here’s where Keith and I head when in a food-time crunch. What do you like to grab? Read more »

Sing-a-long with Disney

March 21st, 2008

I am willing to bet there are over 200 songs from Disney movies. So the following task was not easy and not taken lightly. We all have a favorite song from a Disney movie and when we hear the song, we can visualize the part of the movie it appears. I know when I first heard “My Heart will Go On”, I just lost it. Oh, Titanic is not a Disney movie. Well it should be. Anyway, below are the Top 5 songs from Disney movies as compiled by Keith and myself. I can imagine that most of you are starting to realize a pattern here. Well good for you. We know you have a favorite or multiple favorites, so let us know your songs in the comments. Enjoy. (Click the song titles to see the song clips at Youtube. The clips will open in a new window. I’m currently having technical difficulties embedding them in the site.) Read more »

We’ve all experienced it. Someone dies and without hesitation somebody will utter, “he was taken before his time”. For me there is no mystery. The individual died so clearly it was his time. I don’t understand the confusion. So with that in mind, CadaverBlender presents the top individuals (we like liberal definitions here, so individual doesn’t necessarily mean a person) “taken before their time”. Who would make your list of individuals “taken before their time”? Read more »
